Helping with personal needs while maintaining dignity
Direct Support Caregiver
Chrysalis Spectrum provides a variety of direct support services to assist with the activities of daily living—giving you additional peace of mind and your family member the dignity and comfort he or she deserves.
Bathing and Hygiene
Our direct support caregiver is specially trained in bathing, personal hygiene, and other personal care services, and always focus on preserving the dignity, comfort, and health of each client.
Dressing & Grooming
Direct support caregiver assists with morning and bedtime routines that consist of helping with dressing and grooming. Dressing includes helping individuals select the right type of seasonal clothes to wear and grooming consist of helping with combing the hair, shaving, and skin care. We realize that many individuals may find it challenging lifting their arms to do routine activities such as putting on and taking off clothes and shoes.
Walking and Mobility
We recognize that our clients can benefit from regular movement both physically and mentally. Our direct support caregiver carefully considers the physical limitations and comfort of each client’s ability to walk, climb stairs, get in and out of vehicles, and make other routine movements as they assist them.
Transfer and Posture
In addition to helping our clients with regular movement around the home or around town, our direct support caregiver also concentrates on making sure each client receives help with range of motion. This helps with digestion, circulation, and decrease stiffness from being in one position all day. We can also assist with helping clients get in and out of bed or the bathroom and make sure that sedentary clients receive activities of movement every two hours.
Continence and Toileting Care
Our Chrysalis Spectrum direct support caregivers are trained and experienced in assisting with urinary and bowel care. We understand how important it is for clients to stay clean, dry, and avoid retaining moisture.
Special Diets and Meal Preparation
We work with clients, families, and nutrition professionals to plan and prepare meals according to the specific needs of our clients. This can include shopping for special diets (diabetic, low-sodium, low-trans fat, etc.) and working to fix favorite dishes just right. Our direct support caregiver is also trained in preparing fresh meals to ensure that clients receive the nutrients that are needed to maintain a healthy weight and digestive system.
Some of our clients may have physical and emotional challenges in the ability to perform basic functions. Our direct support caregiver provides exceptional sensitivity, care, and safety for clients with these challenges. Our direct support caregiver makes sure that clients stay hydrated. We understand the risk of UTI's and how dehydration can play a role in the client's health.
Our direct support caregivers encourage clients to brush, rinse, and clean dentures in the morning, after every meal, and at bedtime. We understand the vital role oral hygiene plays in heart disease.
